Based on an abundant documentary fund kept at the Palais des Papes and with the help of the Municipal Archives of Avignon, this exhibition-file invites visitors to discover a founding period in the history of the monument.
It also invites us to follow the colossal work of restoration and rehabilitation undertaken following the departure of the military in 1906.
For more than thirty years, under the successive direction of the chief architects of Historic Monuments Henri Nodet father and son, the Palace was engaged in an extraordinary project which saw it reborn after a century of military occupation.
